This can be done by hand or with the use of a machine. There are various styles and techniques with which someone can enjoy this activity.

There are a variety of needles and threads that can change the whole get up of the material that one is stitching by using the basics of knitting stitches . With no exceptions to the rule, the purl stitch and the knit stitch, are there in each and every piece of stitched clothing. There are some types of knitting stitches, which we will go over below.

The Purl Stitch- It is very much the opposite to the knit stitch. One holds the the yarn in front of the knitting and the right needle gets inserted from the back to the front side into the first stitch on the left needle. You can use your index finger to wind the yarn around and down the right needle in a counter clockwise movement.

Garter Stitch- This stitch involves every row in flat knitting and is a good and very effective type of stitching for new people starting out.

The Stockinette is one of the more common used knitting patterns. One row is knit, which is followed by purl in the next, and then a repetition of the pattern. It usually curls at the edges when it is not combined with any other stitches such as non-curling, stitch patterns.

The Cast on Stitch – One can do a cast on in many different ways, and each one of them gives a slightly varied finish. Two versions of cast on are, one with one needle, thumb cast on and for a slightly neater finish and for the second, the needle is cast on.

Cast Off- When one is knitting stitches, it is important for them to make a neat finish to give a good edge for the sewing together.

Knit Stitch- This knit is one of the most essentials in knitting. For one to knit hats or scarves one needs would need to master knit stitches.

But basically you need to do two stitches to make a knitted fabric. There are available information online about Learning Knitting Stitches the Easy Way.

The things we do with these stitches are the ones that create the pattern and texture of knitted items. For starters, they use garter or plain stitch. Once you use this stitch alone it will create a ridged fabric that will look like a row of arches.

The “purl” stitch is another stitch used for making a smoother fabric. You do one row using garter stitch and the next row using the purl stitch. You will create a row looking like Y’s on the right side and a row of arches on the wrong side.

If we put into words how these stitches are being done then that would really be very difficult. The best way to learn is through the videos like in YouTube. You can type in “how to knit videos” and you will see several related videos.

If you already know the basics to stitching by watching those videos then you are ready take the next step. There are three popular kinds of knitting namely Aran, Lace and Fairisle. Let us see what these knitting techniques are all about.

For Fairisle, it combines several colored yarns that will create a pattern. You will knit the main fabric with 1 color and other patterned areas will be knitted using additional colors. The yarn not being used will be placed across the wrong side and will be used until it is needed. Jumpers from Fairisle are warm because the strands on the wrong side will provide extra layers of yarn.

For Aran knitting, it is done by moving and twisting stitches in order to make raised textures on the fabric. Cable patterns are created by holding small number of stitches on a needle then you should knit the following stitches before you come back to knit the stitches on the cable needle.

Other than that you can create knitted diamonds. This is done by progressively moving several stitches to the right or left which will create a diagonal raised line on the fabric.

For Lace knitting, it is simply a combination of purl stitches and plain along with series of holes which make the lacy pattern. In order to make a hole, you move the yarn in front of your needle before knitting the next stitch. This will create an extra loose stitch.

Just to make sure you don’t make too many stitches, you knit the 2 stitches together bringing the stitch count back to the original. The combination of the knitted stitches and the holes are the ones responsible for the lacy patterns that are popular for shawls, vintage style homewares and baby’s clothes.

That should give you some of the information you need about knitting stitches.

You can create beautiful creations with it. You can learn it very easily and here are some tips:

Knitting stitches – here are the basics. You can start knitting by using plastic needles and yarn that are light weight. Begin with cast on knitting. Make a slip loop over your left needle then pass the right needle through the loop from the left yarn to the right. Slip it under then over the right needle drawing the yarn through the loop then transfer the loop to the left needle. Continue this process till you get the desired number of stitches on the left needle.

Before you start knitting your should learn the five basic stitches. These are knit two stitches, knit stitch, stockinette stitch, yarn over stitch, and purl stitch.

The basic knit stitch is the most common. First, you pass the right needle through the first stitch of your left needle. Then wind the yarn over two crossed needles over the right needle. Gently pull it through the loop. You then slip over the original stitch from your left to the right needle. Repeat this procedure until all the stitches are transferred from the left to the right needle.

If you want a twisted rib effect then just knit into the back of your knit stitch. To create a back stitch, insert the needle into the back of the stitch of your left needle.

The purl stitch is the second basic stitch. This will look like a brick face if viewed from the purl side. You need to first have a yarn in front of your needle. You need to insert the right needle to the first stitch of the left needle. You then wind the yarn around the back of the right needle from right to left. Allow the stitch to slip off left needle to the right after drawing the loop backward. Continue this until the stitches are all transferred from the left to the right needle.

The stockinette stitch is the third one. This is used for sweater and socks. It is simple and is a combination of two basic stitches namely the purl stitch and the knit stitch. You knit one row with knit stitch and purl stitch with another row. That is about it.

For you to knit two stitches together you just need to decrease a stitch. You can have two different stitches or you can have two purl stitches. For even stitches try decreasing the edges then knit the second and the third stitches together.

You can do this by hand or with a machine. You can have various designs and techniques that you can use. If you use different variations you can have stunning results.

There are two different types of knitting stitches namely warp knitting and weft knitting. You can do weft knitting with machines but warp knitting can only be done with machines. You can use a number of stitches for knitting. Knit stitch, knit 2 together, yarn-over, stockinette stitch, and purl stitch are the key stitches.

Knit stitch is done by intertwining loops with each other, one after another. You can use one needle to pull a loop of thread or yarn through a stitch on another needle.

Purl stitch can be done by holding the yarn in front of your knitting then the right needle will be inserted from the back to the front to the first stitch on your left needle. You can use the right index finger to wind your yarn around then down the right needle through a counterclockwise direction. The right needle must be pulled using the yarn passing it through the old stitch backward then release the old stitch creating a purl stitch.

Knit 2 together is knitting two yarns together. The right needle will be pushed to the second stitch. Then bring the thread over then upward then down. You need to catch the yarn the slip off the old stitches.

Yarn-over is done after a knit stitch. You can take the yarn across from the back then to the front knitting the next stitch.

Stockinette stitch is the most used stitch. It consists of one knitted row and the other row purled. This is good for beginners.

HOW FIMO IS MADE

This is similar to knitting but is a handicraft for jewelry. Fimo beads are very colourful and worn as jewelry. Here is how to make them:

The Materials

• Varnish knitting needle

• Oven

• Flat tray

• Colourful polymer clays Hollow cake

Directions of Use:

1. Mold all the polymer clay using your palm until it is warm and flexible.

2. Cut it to equivalent penny-size balls.

3. Roll each made ball between your palms consecutively to make a tubular shape.

4. The knitting needle should be pushed through the center to be able to thread afterwards.

5. Harden them by hanging the beads on the cake tin.

6. Place the beads in the oven make sure it is in a hanging position then bake it for 30 minutes at 2650 degrees Fahrenheit

7. Let it cool then varnish.

But truly you just need to use 2 stitches to create a knitted fabric. The creation of texture and pattern depends on what we do with the two stitches.

Learning knitting stitches the easy way.For beginners, they start with “garter” or “plain” stitch. If you just use this stitch you will have a ridged fabric.

To make a smoother fabric you need to use the purl stitch. You use the garter stitch with one row then you nit the next using the purl stitch.

You can make a fabric that look like a row of v’s one one side and on the other side row of arches when you repeat the 2 rows.

It really is impossible to describe these stitches in words. Lucky for you there are a lot of videos on the internet that can help you. You can try YouTube and search the key word “how to knit videos.”

If you are comfortable with the basic stitches then you can try the more complicated ones. There are 3 popular types of stitching namely Lace, Aran, and Fairisle. Let’s analyze each of them.

When you combine different colours of yarns in creating a pattern then you are using Fairisle. You knit the main fabric with one colour then knit the patterned areas with different colours. You can strand the unused yarn across the wrong side until it is needed. Jumpers made out of Fairisle are extremely warm.

Aran knitting can be done by moving and twisting the stitches. This creates raised textures in the fabric. You can do this by holding a small number of stitches on one spare needle. You then knit the following stitches right before you come back to the stitches on the cable needle. This will create a twist in 8 stitches.

Combining purl stitches with plain stitches along a series of holes is called “Lace knitting.” This will create a lacy pattern. In order to make the hole, you can simply move the yarn in front of your needle before knitting the next stitch. This will make an extra loose stitch. The lacy patterns are made from the combination of the stitches and holes that are knit together. These lacy patterns are very popular in shawls, vintage style homewares and babies clothing.

These stitches are truly a delight for those people who just want to stay at home and do nothing. This can be a great a hobby for you.
